Texture Techniques - Thursdays PM

In Texture Techniques, you'll explore the countless ways texture can transform a simple piece of clay into something truly unique. Throughout this supplemental course, you'll experiment with carving, stamping, layering, impressing, masking, and additive techniques to create surfaces full of depth, movement, and personality.

Working with both handmade and found tools, you'll discover how different textures interact with form, light, and glaze while building a personal library of techniques you can apply to future projects. We'll also explore when to create texture, how deep is too deep, and how various surface treatments affect the finished piece after firing.
